Daniel Barrón – Director

Our Lady of Guadalupe’s Director of High School Confirmation & Young Adults Ministries. Daniel is a loving husband to Gina and a father of six children. An Auburn University graduate, Daniel has vast catechetical experience having taught religious education to children and Confirmation classes to teens. partnered with his wife, Daniel also has Stewardship experience (development & fundraising).

I love being here at Our Lady of Guadalupe and being able to teach and share our faith while helping young people grow.”

Shelly Schoppe – Co-Director

Born and raised in Hill Country and a recent graduate from UTSA as a Mechanical Engineer, Shellyis the oldest of seven in her family – with one sister and five brothers! The Schoppe family has been a part of Our Lady of Guadalupe for years and they love to volunteer.

I am very excited to be the Co-Director of Young Adults because my faith to me is everything.  I love learning and talking about God and especially enjoy learning the faith.

I believe Young Adults will benefit so many people because we are like minded individuals that want the best out of life therefore we want to learn more about God as a community so that we can live life to the fullest.”

Michael Mora – Parish Outreach

Married for 10 years, Michael and Linda are the proud parents of four children. They have three years of catechetical experience as Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) teachers at St. Bonaventure and immensely enjoined working with and helping other adults learn about the faith and grow in spirituality. Michael has numerous ties to the community and is involved with a variety of community service projects. Linda has bas been actively participating in church ministry since the age of 18. A first-generation U.S. born citizen in her family, Linda proudly shares her multi-cultural experiences of home (San Antonio) and family (Mexico).

Nathan Garcia – Professor of Young Adult Studies

A home-grown native of Helotes, Nathan converted into Catholicism during his early college years at St. Mary’s College in California.  With his newly earned BA in Philosophy he chose to explore is newfound faith and went on to earn a Master’s in Theology from Boston College. Happily married now, Nathan has taught Catholic theology for the past six years at Central Catholic High School in San Antonio. While his favorite pastime is spending time with his daughter, Charlotte, his spiritual journey is far from over. Nathan currently pursues a doctoral degree in Spirituality.

My interests in theology are the study of sacred Scripture, systematic theology, mysticism, and spiritual practices.”

Claudia James – Young Adult Advocate

Born and raised in Piedras Negras, Coahuila México; Claudia loves dancing, experiencing new adventures and meeting people. She believes that when we take the time to meet people from different cultural backgrounds, it helps us to be more respectful of our differences and accepting of each other. A graduate from the University of Texas at San Antonio, Claudia is a high school Math teacher and is currently working on her masters to be a school counselor. Claudia and her husband have been married for two and a half years. They are the proud parents of “Noah” (their puppy).
