Frequently Asked Questions
How are the parish targets set and how much is the parish going to receive?
The campaign target for each parish is established at 1.3 times its average offertory for the last three fiscal years. Parishes with a three-year average offertory of $500,000 or less will receive 40%; offertory between $500,000 and $1.3 million will receive 35%; and those with offertory over $1.3 million will receive 30%. We are in the last category.
If the parish does not reach their monetary target, is it responsible for the difference?
Parishes will not be assessed penalties if they do not reach their fundraising target. The expectation is that parishes put forth a “good faith effort” to follow the recommendations of the archdiocese and the Steier Group in conducting the campaign.
Will the funds for On the Way – ¡Ándale! Capital Campaign reduce offertory for the parish?
It is important to emphasize that all gifts to this campaign should not reduce other giving commitments to the Church. A gift to the campaign is an “extraordinarily generous gift made freely and faithfully” to meet the extraordinary challenges and opportunities presented through the campaign.
Why do we need both the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal and On the Way – ¡Ándale! Capital Campaign?
The annual appeal supports the daily operations of critical ministries throughout the archdiocese whereas the campaign funds more strategic, comprehensive, and larger scale initiatives to continue to build and grow our parishes, vocations, lay educations/formation programs and Catholic Schools well into the future.
Do Parishes have to wait until the end of the Campaign to receive their portion of the proceeds?
The parishes will begin accruing with the first dollar donated. We will receive $.30 to every dollar raised. If we don’t reach our goal, we will still receive 30% of what we raise.
I did not get a phone call, so what should I do?
If you received a pledge card in the mail, please prayerfully consider what you can afford to pledge, fill out the card and then drop it in the Sunday collection or at the parish office. Any amount you can give will make a difference! We would like to receive 100% of the pledge cards back, so even if you cannot pledge at this time, please return the completed pledge card by November 22, which will be the commitment weekend.
What if I did not get a pledge card in the mail?
You should be receiving a call from a volunteer. Please be patient. They are doing this during their free time. They will contact you eventually.
We want to continue answering any questions you might have. Please send your questions to our email email@example.com. We need everyone’s help in order to reach our goal.
Also, many of you will be receiving a phone call from a campaign volunteer to answer questions and complete your pledge card. Please continue to say the prayer for Our Lady of Guadalupe Church’s success and for your hard-working volunteers who are giving their time and hearts to the “On the Way – ¡Ándale!” Capital Campaign.
