Teen ACTS is a Catholic teen retreat which helps to achieve the goals set forth by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in their statement on youth ministry: Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry. The bishops state three goals for Catholic Youth Ministry:
- To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today;
- To draw young people to responsible participation in life, mission and work of the Catholic faith community;
- To foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.
“A Teen ACTS retreat is one part of a comprehensive youth ministry program designed to meet these goals set forth by our Catholic bishops for youth ministry.” – from the Teen ACTS Director’s Manual.
Teen ACTS retreats are similar, yet substantially different in many ways from adult ACTS retreats. The retreats are designed for high-school-aged teen boys and girls, and are put on by a team comprised of teen peers, young adults and adults of both genders.
