Riggs Rd. Before Riggs Rd. After
COPS/Metro, one of Our Lady of Guadalupe Helotes Social Justice Ministry Group, is pleased to announce the successful completion of the roadwork and removal of the cement wall on FM 1560. Thank you to everyone especially TxDOT for working with our community to make this significant change. After over a year of discussions and negotiations with TxDOT, City and State Leaders, our Clergy and most importantly our parishioners the project is complete. The poorly designed curve with a cement wall, that created a blind spot for drivers, has come DOWN and a new steel guard rail has been installed! The other improvements that were made in the area are: 1. The installation of flashing lights including a 30 mph speed warning sign along the curve 2. A street light was installed at the Stop Sign at the corner on Riggs Rd. 3. TxDOT also moved up the stop line so cars can inch up a little more to see oncoming traffic 4. The Knights of Columbus Council 8306 spearheaded the effort to remove the overgrown vegetation that severely impaired the visibility of oncoming traffic Thank you Brother Knights and COPS/Metro Leaders for providing the heavy equipment, manual labor and disposal of the foliage. All of these improvements were made with one thing in mind – YOU – the parishioners of our community. Your safety and well being is the utmost importance to us. You can be assured, COPS/Metro will continue to work with TxDOT to ensure your safety as traffic increases and other FM 1560 future expansions come to fruition. |
