Message of ACTS
ACTS is an acronym for Adoration, Community, Theology and Service. It is these four themes that are the focus of activities during the weekend.
ACTS is inspired by the ACTS of the Apostles 2:42-47:
They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and to prayer. Awe came upon everyone and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.
All who believed were together and had all things in common: they would sell their property and possessions and divide them among all according to each one’s need. Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple area and to breaking bread in their homes. They ate their meals in exultation and sincerity of heart, praising God and enjoying favor with all the people. And every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.”
Goal
An ACTS retreat strives to achieve the directives of Vatican II and the goals of the Revised Code of Canon Law of 1983 to place more emphasis on “Community and Pastoral Care” within a parish; that the participants experience God’s love and joy throughout the weekend, and return to their parishes with a deeper love for each other and a desire to become more involved in the parish faith and community. Please note that all denominations are welcomed.
Purpose
The purpose of an ACTS weekend is to provide an opportunity for participants to develop a deeper relationship with the Lord and fellow parishioners through ADORATION and daily prayer; through COMMUNITY in one’s parish as a member of the Body of Christ; through THEOLOGY or the teaching of our Catholic faith by encouraging more study; and, to instill a virtue of SERVICE to our Lord, our parish and each other.
ACTS RETREATS
An ACTS retreat weekend is a three day, three night Catholic–based retreat presented by fellow parishioners much like you, starting on Thursday and concluding on Sunday. Holy Scripture and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church are the guides for the retreat. The retreat cost per person is $180.00. A deposit of $50 is required with your application.

TEEN ACTS
Teen ACTS is a Catholic teen retreat which helps to achieve the goals set forth by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in their statement on youth ministry: Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry. The bishops state three goals for Catholic Youth Ministry:
- To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today;
- To draw young people to responsible participation in life, mission and work of the Catholic faith community;
- To foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.
“A Teen ACTS retreat is one part of a comprehensive youth ministry program designed to meet these goals set forth by our Catholic bishops for youth ministry.” – from the Teen ACTS Director’s Manual.
Teen ACTS retreats are similar, yet substantially different in many ways from adult ACTS retreats. The retreats are designed for high-school-aged teen boys and girls, and are put on by a team comprised of teen peers, young adults and adults of both genders.
