RCIA

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

… is a formation process, a way of life, for those wishing to join the Catholic Church. RCIA is an on-going process that is based on Catechesis, and uses various Rites which lead to initiation into or full communion with the Catholic Church. It is designed for adults, children, and youth who, after hearing the mystery of Christ proclaimed, consciously and freely seek the living God and want to enter the way of faith and conversion as the Holy Spirit opens their hearts. By God’s help they will be strengthened spiritually during their preparation and at the proper time will receive the sacraments of initiation fruitfully.

For the Unbaptized (Catechumen),the RCIA is a gradual process that takes place within the Parish community and in accordance with the Church’s liturgical year. The parish joins with the catechumens to reflect upon the value of the paschal mystery, renew their own conversion, and through their example, help the catechumens to obey the Holy Spirit more generously.

For Christians Baptized in a separated ecclesial Community (other Christian denominations), the RCIA provides doctrinal and spiritual preparation for reception into full communion with the Catholic Church. The rite is so arranged that no greater burden than necessary is required for the establishment of communion and unity.

For Baptized Catholics who have not received the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist and minimal or no other faith formation, the RCIA requires considerable time during which the faith infused in baptism grows and takes deeper root through pastoral formation.

ARE YOU SOMEONE OR DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO…

  • Has expressed an interest in becoming Catholic?
  • Has a child over the age of seven who has not been baptized?
  • Was baptized Catholic as a child, but has not celebrated the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist?

We offer an opportunity to come together in a small group to learn more about our faith. Sessions focus on the teachings and experience of Church and prepare individuals to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist during the Easter season. There are separate sessions for children or youth. You are welcome to participate in the process with your questions, your insights, and your faith story in a warm accepting setting.

We would love to contact you if you are interested in RCIA, please fill out the following form and we will contact you: RCIA Request Form
